New CD Player

I have placed a new Cd player in with the Cassette player for kids to use.  Since the cassette player gets less usage,  Eileen recommended that we add a CD player.  So I did.  We now have 2 CD players and 1 cassette player.  Iris is making a new sign to let people know.  Also, at the moment, there are only two outlets and since we need 3 I asked Jose to give us a power strip.  In the meantime, we will leave the cassette player unplugged.

Sorting Sticker Collection

Our sticker collection is being sorted by a junior volunteer. It is still a hodge podge, but should be more organized when the project is completed.

Please save the plastic bags from our headphones for Iris. They may be helpful for storing some of the stickers. Thanks.

Monarch Butterfly Caterpillar Display

The monarch butterfly caterpillar display is up. The library is not giving caterpillars to patrons this year.

Please help by adding butterfly books to the display as needed.

Missing Star Wars Figures

Key and Niles Library card on Lanyard for Annie Chung

Annie Chung or her family will be in today to pick up her key and Niles library card on a lanyard. It is in the pickup cabinet.

Envelope for David Belmont

A personal document of patron David Belmont was found inside a book.  I left a message on his machine telling him it would be in an envelope in the Children’s Services Dept.  It is in our pick-up cabinet if he comes in asking for it.     Fran D.

New Display in Older Non-Fiction

The new display shelving unit in Older Non-Fiction now contains books on ancient Greece and Rome.  It was formerly Greek and Roman myths, but now it is Greek and Roman history.  It will remain this subject for the rest of the month of July.

SRC More Reminders

A few things to clarify on prizes, etc for SRC

• The older club states on the back that they must read 900 minutes to get extra credit, but actually, they only have to complete the first level on the back
• Please print the child’s name and date with a sharpie on the certificate when they do finish the 1st level of extra credit
• Once they reach the extra credit, you can check off as many levels of extra credit as they have completed.  THEY DO NOT HAVE TO COME BACK ON DIFFERENT DAYS TO REDEEM THE LEVELS
• We do not have to record beyond the 1st level of extra credit.  So if they do another 10 rows of extra credit, you do not need to write it on their card.

School Library Journal

Today, Saturday, the 21st, a patron–Margie, mother of Tony and Alexandra for those of you who can remember back that far–borrowed two old copies of SLJ to take home overnight.  She’s using some reviews for graduate school and Kate has allowed her to do this in the past.  She will return them on Sunday the 22nd.
